변수에 넣다 

Remember to factor in staffing costs when you are planning the project.

'factor' 대신 'be'나 'get'을 사용하면 2형식이다.

You'd better consider this and factor this into your decision making.

"이거 고려해서 우리 결정에 변수로 고려해야 한다."

여기서 'factor'를 간단한 'put'으로 바꾸면 5형식이 되고 '의사 결정에 이것을 넣다'로 쉽게 이해된다. 이 'put'을 'factor'로 바꿔 넣으면 'put this as a factor into~'의 뜻이 된다. 결국 동사로 쓰인 구동사 'factor into'는 '변수로 넣다', '변수로 고려하다'의 뜻이 된다.
