명사가 사용될 자리이므로 'enough'를 사용하고 뒤의 부정사와 잘 연결된다.

Langdon was in (C)[enough] trouble with her already that he was not about to mention it.

'enough'는 명사를 앞에서 수식할 수도 있다. 다만 뒤에 'that'와 상관되는 것이 어색하게 보일 것이다. 'so'는 단독의 명사 'trouble'을 수식할 수 없다.

'in such trouble'을 사용하면 'that'와 잘 연결되겠지만 약간의 의미 차이가 발생한다.

'high enough' 대신 'sufficiently high'을 사용할 수 있다. 하지만 'so high'를 사용하는 것은 약간의 의미 차이가 발생한다. 'high enough'나 'sufficiently high'를 사용할 경우에는 얼마만큼 'enough'하거나 'sufficient'한 것인지 정확히 말하진 않지만 대체로 (사람을 복제하려고 시도할 정도로) '근접할 정도'(getting closer) 일 때 사용하고 'so high'는 대체로 (그 효율성이 지금까지 성공적으로 입증되어서) '같거나 초과'(equals or exceeds) 할 경우에 사용한다. 물론 'high'를 사용하지 않을 경우에는 단독으로 'such that'을 사용할 수 있다.
