[핵심 문법] 동등 비교 as much (of)

A is not a *much achievement. → A is not much of an achievement.  "A는 대단한 업적은 아니다."

가산 명사인 'achievement' 앞에 'much'를 사용할 수 없다. 연결 관계를 나타내기 위해 'of'를 사용하고 앞으로 끄집어낸다.

I'm not *much a detective, am I? → I'm not much of a detective, am I?  "전 대단한 형사는 아니죠, 그렇죠?"

A is *an as much achievement as B (is). → A is as much of an achievement as B (is).

동등 비교인 경우 'as much'를 앞으로 끄집어내고 'of'를 사용한다.

Teamwork is as much of an achievement as winning the tournament. 

"팀워크는 토너먼트를 이기는 것만큼 대단한 업적이다."

Why wasn't instant tea as much of a success as instant coffee?

부정관사 뒤에 'as 형용사'를 쓸 수 없어서 'as skilled'를 앞으로 끄집어내는데 형용사의 경우는 'of'를 쓸 필요가 없다.

드물게 'of'를 사용하기도 하지만 좋은 것은 아니다.

B : 'as skilled'가 앞으로 나온 후에 불필요한 'of'는 쓸 수 있지만 부정관사가 없으면 곤란하다.

[해석] A : 사진 찍는 것을 정말 즐긴다고 톰이 내게 말하던데.

B : 즐기지, 하지만 당신만큼 솜씨 좋은 사진사는 전혀 아니다.
