[head off]

피하다; 진로를 바꾸다; ~의 앞을 가로막아 진로를 방해하다 → 떠나다; 피하다; 막다

to prevent something from taking place; to leave to go to another place (= head out); to prevent someone from going somewhere by getting in front of them (= to intercept or seize)  

'head'는 머리로 곧 방향의 뜻이 됩니다(head for). 벗어나는 떠나는 의미로 'off'와 'out'을 사용할 수 있습니다. 

We should be heading off soon. "우린 곧 떠나야 합니다."

Louise just headed off to the store, but you can probably still catch her, if you leave now.

"루이스는 막 가게로 떠났지만 지금 가면 여전히 붙잡을 수 있을 거야."

The ship was heading out to sea. "배는 바다로 나가고 있었다."
