[핵심 문법] 일반 병치와 상관 대등 병치

일반 병치가(A and B; A or B) 아니고 상관 병치인(both A and B; not only A but also B) 경우에는 A와 B는 문법적으로 대등한 것이 사용되어야 하며 이를 '상관 대등 병치'라 한다.

*He not only ate shrimp but also cocktail sauce, too.

동사와 명사는 대등 병치가 아니다.

He ate not only shrimp but also cocktail sauce, too.

명사와 명사가 상관 대등 병치되고 있다.

He not only ate shrimp but also vomited it, too.

동사구와 동사구가 상관 대등 병치되고 있다.

전치사구와 전치사구가 상관 대등 병치되고 있다.

= He called out to my wife as well as me.

'as well as'는 일반 병치로 'to'를 사용하지 않는다.

'as well as'는 상관 병치가 아니고 그냥 병치된 것으로 'walk'를 사용한다. 'to walk'는 드물게 쓰인다.
