   "Very good. Although it depends what you consider public. I realize not many people go to church anymore."

     시에너의 눈길은 에비뉴 아래로 달려가면서 여전히 앞쪽의 길에 집중되어 있었다. 아침의 얼마 안 되는 차량들을 누비듯 빠져나갔다. 몇몇 보행자들은 그들이 지나갈 때 놀라 다시 쳐다보며 날씬한 여자 뒤에서 브리오니 정장을 입은 6 피트의 남자를 보고서 의아해 하는 것 같았다.

깜짝 놀라 다시 보다; (처음에는 영문을 모르고 있다가) 갑자기 깨닫다  : to look twice due to surprise or disbelief  [원래 1920년 대에 감독이 녹화할 때 뭔가 잘못된 것이 있어서 다시 보는 데서(take a second look at ~) 유래해서 'double take'가 다시 찍는 것을(another shot)을 의미하게 된 데서]
