[bring up the rear]

: 맨 뒤를 맡다, 맨 뒤에서 가다, 후위에 위치하다; 꼴찌를 하다, 꼴찌로 들어오다 : to be at the back of a group that is going somewhere; to be the last in a line or group; to move last in a group of people; to move along behind everyone else; to be at the end of the line ; come last in a race or other contests [originally referred to marching soldiers : 우리말로는 '앞에서 끌고 뒤에서 밀고 간다'라는 말이 있지요. 이 표현은 바로 '뒤에서 밀고 간다'에 해당되는 표현입니다. 'take'와 'bring' 중에서 나아가는 방향이 중심이 되는 곳이므로 'bring'을 사용하고 'up'은 앞쪽을 뜻합니다.
