[어휘 또는 표현]

an expert on / in  / at ~ : ~의 전문가인

비슷하지만 'on'은 '주제에 대한 지식'이 전문가라는 뜻이고 'in'은 '지식의 활용'이 전문가라는 약간의 의미 차이를 갖는다.

My brother is an expert in foreign policy. "우리 형은 외교 정책을 펴는 데 전문가야."

We've asked to interview an expert on foreign policy. "우리는 외교 정책에 관한 전문가와 인터뷰했어."

He is an expert in kung fu. "그는 쿵후 도사야."

He is an expert on kung fu. "그는 쿵후라면 잘 알지."

구체성이 강할수록 'on'을 사용하기도 한다.

He is an expert in English grammar. "그는 영문법 도사야." 

He is an expert on the usage of prepositions. "그는 전문 분야가 전치사의 용법이야."

'at'을 사용하면 지점을 표시하므로 어떤 행동을 잘 한다는 뜻이고 'on'은 역시 지식에 관한 것이고 'in'은 'at'과 비슷하게 사용된다.

Dr. White is an expert at skiing. (= very good at skiing)

Dr. White is an expert on skiing. (= knows a great deal about the sport -- its history, etc.)

1) 가능성 : (양쪽 형 명사) :  the possibility that something will happen, especially something you want

What are the team's chances of success? "그 팀의 성공 가능성은?"

If we did move to London, I'd stand a much better chance. "런던으로 이사 가면 훨 가능성이 큰데."

2) 기회 : (가산 명사) : time or situation which you can use to do something that you want to do

Ralph was waiting for a chance to introduce himself. "랄프는 자신을 소개할 기회를 기다리고 있었다."

3) 우연 (불가산 명사) : the happening of something in a way that no one could have known, so that it seems to have no cause 

I bumped into her quite by chance in Oxford Street. "나는 아주 우연히 옥스퍼드 거리에서 그녀를 마주쳤다."

Do you by any chance know when the last bus leaves tonight?

믿거나 의지할 때는 'on'을 사용한다.
