#1.    But such weapons were not for knights. There was nothing chivalrous about firing a bullet into a man's body from a distance. I have lost my watch. "시계를 잃어버리고 없다."

시계를 잃어버리는 사건이 있어고 그래서 결과적으로 지금 시계가 없다는 표현으로 완료의 결과적 용법이라 칭한다.

He has had his day. "그는 한물갔어." (one's day : 아무의 전성기)

전성기는 지나갔고 결과적으로 지금은 전성기가 아니란 표현이다.

I really screw up my speech, and Caroline keeps rubbing the disaster in my face.

It's true I don't like soap, but you don't have to rub it in my face.

아예 'one's face'를 생략하고 사용하기도 합니다.

John failed his exam, so to rub his nose in it, I put my certification up on the wall.

코를 눌러 비비면 거의 같은 뜻이 됩니다.

(갑자기) 혼란 상태가 되다, 엉망이 되다, 난처해지다, (스캔들 따위로) 세상에 알려지다 : To become more of a problem or more widespread or publicized

가만있는 똥도 문제인데 이게 날아가서 선풍기에 부딪혀 튕기게 되면 난리가 나죠. '똥판', '개판' 되고 혼란 상태가 되는 거죠. 또 가만있던 똥이 날아가 튕기면 온 동네가 냄새 등으로 다 알게 되고 소문이 퍼지면 난처해지는 거죠. 'it'나 'shit' 대신 다양한 표현이 쓰이기도 합니다.

우리도 '똥'을 언급하기 뭐 하면 '거시기'(it)로 표현하기도 하죠. '뭐시기'(you know what)로 표현하기도 하죠.

I don't want to be here when the shit hits the fan. "똥이 선풍기에 튈 때 여기 있고 싶지 않아."

Once his scandal hits the fan, all of our investors are liable to pull out of the company.

It hit the fan, and within ten minutes the press had spread it all over the world.
