말아 감다, 말아 쥐다; 파악하다 : to understand or comprehend something that is challenging or confusing

I find it hard to get my mind around such complex issues.

I can't get it into my mind. "머리로 파악이 안되네."

'my mind'를 뒤로 보내면 'into'를 사용할 수도 있다.

Kate is willing to pay full price for an expensive handbag, but I just can't wrap my head around that. "케이트는 비싼 핸드백에 정가를 다 지불하려 하지만 나는 그게 머리로는 이해가 안 된다."

I just couldn't wrap my mind around what I was seeing: something broke into my apartment.

'wrap'과 'head'를 사용하는 경우도 있다.

[어휘 또는 표현]

undecision → 'indecision'이 보통의 표현이다.

mislike → 'dislike'이 보통의 표현이다.

[해설]

보통 'ere'는 'before'의 뜻이지만 미시시피 방언으로는 'ever'의 뜻으로 사용되기도 한다. 여기서 'as much as ere a man'은 'as much as ever a man', 즉 'as much as any man'과 같은 뜻으로 사용된다.

'ever'는 먼 시간(far)과 'any'를 합치는 느낌이다.
