Why did she turned on me / *turned me on  like that? I said something to offend her?

I know he seems friendly, but he'll turn on you in an instant if you disagree with him.

[take on (부사)]

부사 'on' 다음에 생략된 것이 '자신의 몸'이면 '붙어보다' → '도전하다'의 뜻이 된다. ['take'는 타동사, 'on'은 부사]

[해설]

[구동사 'put on']

'my waist'가 생략되고 'on'은 부사로 쓰인 경우이다. 'put another inch on θ'에서 무거운 'another inch'가 부사인 'on' 아래로 내려간 경우이다.

How can I have put on θ a pound since yesterday? I've eaten nothing!

"하루 만에 1 파운드가 찔 수 있지? 그 새 아무것도 먹지 않았는데!"

'my body (or my weight)'에 1 파운드를 올려붙인 것에서.

'on' 다음에 생략된 것은 'the phone'이다.

'on' 다음에는 'the radio'가 생략되어 있는 셈이다.

연결이 끊어지면 'off'를 사용하고 붙으면 'on'을 사용한다.

Phone me as soon as you leave the office and I'll put the dinner on θ , so that it's ready when you get home.

"사무실을 떠날 때 바로 전화해줘요. 그러면 저녁 하기 시작할게요. 당신이 집에 왔을 때 준비되도록." (to start cooking)

'the stove'가 생략되고 on은 부사로 쓰이고 있다. '저녁 올려놓을 게요'에서.

여기서는 'the stage' 또는 'sports field'가 생략된 것이다.

'올리는 것'은 '여는 것'과 비슷한 뜻이다.

'(기존 배차 편에) 기차를 더 올려놓는 것'은 '증편하는 것'이다.

In spring we put the clocks on one hour, to take advantage of the summer daylight. (to move the hands of (a clock or watch) to a later time)

"한 시간 앞당긴다."

여기서 'on'은 'ahead'나 'forward' 뜻의 부사이다. '앞으로 위치시키는 것'은 '앞당기다'라는 뜻이다.

act : 연극(조의 행동), 꾸밈, 시늉

My neighbour is always putting on θ airs, pretending she knows important people and is invited to rich parties, and so on. (put on airs : to pretend to be very grand : 거드름 피우다, 잘난 체하다)

얼굴과 어깨 등등에 공기가 들어가 불룩, 불룩 솟은 것을 상상하면 'airs'가 잘 이해된다.

[해설]

I don't believe you, you're just putting me on θ. (to deceive (someone) into believing something for fun)

"안 믿어. 너 괜히 비행기 태우는 거지."

'장난으로 비행기 태우는 것'이 '속임수'에 해당되는 것을 상상하면 이해가 쉽다.
